Outback was co-founded by Will and Jack – Design engineers with a mutual passion for van-life, industrial design and outdoor adventures. The aim has always been to design products that bridge the gap between work and wilderness, making the great outdoors more accessible for everyone.
Where Work Meets Wilderness
We believe in a straightforward approach to design: develop products that integrate seamlessly, work flawlessly and enable more freedom, fun and flexibility. Our ethos is to develop van conversion kits that optimise the functionality of work vans, while equally enabling users to finish work on Fridays and head for the hills. We prioritise robust manufacturing techniques, contemporary design aesthetics and high quality materials that effortlessly endure high work loads and provide strong resilience against the elements.
Having owned, commuted, holidayed and even lived the van-life, we recognise that life encompasses way more than just work and recreation. That’s why we’ve incorporated lots of other useful features and functions for shopping excursions, family activities and daily commutes throughout our designs. Combined with a number of modular configurations and a huge multi-story payload capacity, it’s never been better to explore the world on your terms.
It took over 2 years to design and develop our final product, making countless iterations and meticulous micro-adjustments to our prototypes until we felt we had engineered the ultimate hybrid conversion kit.
Now perfected, we are proud to offer a product that provides more freedom to explore your passions, more capability to support your work – without compromising your essential day-to-day activities.
THE GRASS IS GREENER
We love our green spaces, it’s a huge part of why we created Outback. It’s core to our values that we minimise our impact on the ecosystem, which is why we’ve chosen recycled fabrics and foam for our mattresses, sustainably sourced FSC® timber for our panelling, and long-lasting stainless steel components for our metalwork. It’s a fundamental duty to both our consumers and to the environment that our products are built to last, that they needn’t be changed, updated or disregarded.
Furthermore, we’re proud to share our support for The National Trust’s Woodland Appeal, helping preserve and protect natural habitats for millions of species, as well as providing us the means to enjoy them. Trees are the natural armour in the battle against climate change, yet many of the UK’s ancient woodlands have disappeared. That’s why we’ve committed to donate 1% of annual profit each year to help support this appeal.
