5 year warranty

Safety Notice

Warranty Introduction

Outback conversion kits are sold with a free warranty of up to 5 years, subject to Terms and Conditions. At Outback, we’re extremely proud of our products and we genuinely want your conversion kit to last for decades. If you ever wish to renew your conversion kit, require a spare part or want to freshen up the paintwork, then please reach out to us. We can also assist you with fixings, panelling and miscellaneous parts. In the unlikely event that you are experiencing significant structural issues with your conversion kit, please continue reading to learn more about our Warranty Terms and Conditions.

It is your responsibility to check the operation, fixings and lashing point fixtures regularly. It is essential that the unit is properly secured to your vehicle’s chassis via the fixed floor mounted lashing points. Failure to check this regularly will increase the chances of damage as a result of heavy vehicle breaking, vibration or excessively hard cornering. Your warranty is void if you do not comply with these Terms. If you are not sure how to check and maintain the unit, please refer to our Maintenance section found within our Resources page. We highly recommend wiping any condensation and moisture away from the product to further prolong the longevity of the finish and general operation.

Note: If your warranty has expired, our conversion kits should always be repairable and we’re always happy to help. We offer maintenance services, as well as free advice to help you best take care of and service the units yourself.

WARRANTY Registration

Customers that purchase products directly through Outback’s website will be automatically registered for our Warranty. If you have purchased a conversion kit through one of our approved stockists, then you will need to email us to register it. Please provide your full name, address, contact number and a copy of the third-party invoice within 6 months of your original purchase date.

Metalwork

If your conversion kit has been installed by a member of the Outback team, or by one of our approved fitting centres, then we offer our full 5 year warranty on all metalwork from the date of purchase. If, however, you have fitted the conversion kit yourself, then this warranty will expire after 2 years from the date of purchase. The warranty does not include cosmetic wear, but pertains only to structural issues such cracks or broken welds, whereby the conversion kit is at risk to further degradation in its structural integrity. This assessment is entirely at our discretion.

Although unlikely, should you require work or any spare parts, then we offer different restoration solutions. We will liaise with you throughout the process, but following an examination of the issue, we may request that you send only the broken or faulty parts to us for repair or replacement before dispatching them back to you. Alternatively, we may arrange for this work to be carried out by a fabrication firm local to you. If we decide to do this, then the cost of this work will be reimbursed within a reasonable limit. This limit is determined by the cost quoted to us by our fabricator and paint shop to repair the same issue. This will include the cost of repair, as well as colour matching the repair. We will not reimburse for examination costs, travel costs, shipping costs, lost or damaged goods during transit, accidental damage, customised branding or vinyl wraps, consequential losses, improper DIY fitting (i.e. installations that were not carried out by us or our approved installation partners, and as a consequence, improper fitting has caused damage), cosmetic or wear and tear issues that do not affect the structural integrity or operation of the conversion kits.

The method of repair is entirely at our discretion. Applications for financial reimbursement must be pre-approved by us and in written form. We will likely request before and after photographs and videos through WhatsApp or email, as well as up to two fixed price quotations in order to assess your claim for any remote repair work. Our warranty does not cover breakage or fault caused by customer negligence or product misuse. The warranty will be void if the fault has been caused by aftermarket alterations or customisation post installation.

POWDER COATING

Should a unit require restoration, then we will refer back to the powder coating RAL colour that was used at the time of order.

Please note: The paint may change colour over time due to sun exposure, so the new coat might be slightly different in colour to the original coat. A limiting factor of powder coated materials is that they cannot be powder coated twice. Depending on the repair carried out, we might decide to use an aerosol spray paint, which again, will be colour matched to the original RAL colour.

Woodwork

Our birch plywood profiling packs are supplied with a 2 year warranty. This warranty includes fractures, splits or delaminating panels that have not been caused as a result of misuse or negligence. Due to potential condensation in high humidity environments, surface mould may build up on exposed timber edges. To counter this and prolong longevity, we recommend applying two coats of water based varnish to any exposed plywood edges to seal them. The top and bottom surfaces are laminated with protective high wear poly-resin layers, and therefore, do not require any further treatment.

Locking Drawer Runners

The locking drawer runners are supplied with a 1 year warranty, but please be aware, this warranty is considered void if damage is caused by any of the following reasons;

  • Unauthorised attachments or aftermarket modifications to the runners, drawers or frame
  • Runners which have been tampered with, altered or had third party repairs
  • Runners which have exceeded the maximum weight limit (200kg per drawer)
  • Faults formed as a result of negligence, improper maintenance or misuse

Due to our supplier’s manufacturing tolerances, some drawer runners require a small piece of sticky rubber strip to be added at the end of the runner. This addition is hidden from sight and only takes a minute to install. We will send a set of rubber strips at your request, limited to one free set per unit. Please note: There will be a £3.00 fee for postage and packaging.

Assessments & Logistics

We have built-in manufacturing standards with our suppliers to ensure product quality. However, if things do go wrong, then we’re always on hand to help! To begin an assessment, we kindly ask that you send us pictures and/or videos of the issue you’re facing via email or WhatsApp to enable us to review it. If there is ongoing doubt, feel free to visit us at our workshop for a free in-person assessment. On-location assessments at your address will incur a travel charge of 25p per mile to cover the costs of our journey.

Exclusions and Replacement Parts

The Memory Foam Mattress, Modular Expansion Pack, Cooker Mounting Board and Wera Tool Check Plus are excluded from our Warranty. However, if faults do develop, please get in touch with us and we will assess how to assist you.

If it’s necessary to replace a part on any part on the unit, then we reserve the right to provide new, near new, refurbished or marked replacements, provided the replacement is in full working order and in better condition than the original damaged or lost part.

Transferable Warranty

If you decide to sell your conversion kit or sell your van with an Outback conversion kit fitted inside, then the remaining warranty will continue for the benefit of the new owner. New owners will need to contact us to register for the Warranty and be able to identify the original purchaser for verification.

If your conversion kit originally met the Terms of our longer 5 year warranty, but at some point was removed and fitted into the same or another vehicle (that wasn’t fitted by us or an approved installer), then the warranty will be automatically downgraded to our 2 year warranty to reflect our DIY installation Warranty Terms. There are Warranty void stickers in place and we may request photographs as part of our Warranty claim or registration assessment.

Terms & Conditions

All our warranties are subject to good and honest cooperation between both parties. Customers should be able to make small adjustments themselves with only basic tools. We are always on hand to give advice and guidance. Anything agreed between the parties verbally must always be followed up with written confirmation, otherwise it shall be treated as void. Unless agreed otherwise, the purchaser is responsible for all transport costs regarding repairs and replacements.
